Fostering Tea Session (SKY & Yan Shan, Land & Joyce)

Image
22 Oct 2016 -  Inspiring sharing by 2 foster couples (SKY & Yan Shan, and Land & Joyce) at our Fostering Intro tea. Take-home points: 1) There'll always be concerns about taking either this child or the next - whether the child has emotional or behaviour issues; how easy the birth family is to work with etc. In the end, it is about trusting the Lord in taking this leap of faith. 2) Fostering brings out the best and worst of ourselves . No matter how accomplished we are as parents, fostering often brings up our weaknesses and vulnerabilities. But that is when we grow and develop, and it pulls us to depend less on ourselves and more on God. 3) Fostering has its challenges and blessings . But what joy it is to see a terrified abused child blossom or a difficult child settle down under our care! And to know that we are obeying God's mandate to care for the orphans and fatherless.
