HFG's 1st ever official award - Community Care Award from MSF

Image
HFG just got our 1st ever official award! Thank you MSF Singapore ! This is the Community Care Award for supporting the homeless during the circuit breaker period! It’s the generous HFG members and friends who made it possible to provide 100 mattresses, and over 1700 meals to homeless housed safely churches! Whatever we did is only a drop to combine with others in the big ocean and we just do what we can. It was inspiring and humbling to be amongst so many with the passion to help! Sandy Chua (our tireless volunteer who developed and coordinated the entire “supply chain”), Vivienne Ng and Audrie Siew represented HFG for this ceremony... check out the photos! We thank God for this milestone and we hope HFG can continue to be a blessing!

Circuit Breaker - Blessing the Rough Sleepers

Image
HFG-SG recently partnered with churches and SSAs in the Safe and Sound Sleeping Places (S3P), to bless the rough sleepers. A coordinator was urgently needed. We thank God that Sandy, a HFG foster parent stepped up to volunteer! Below is her reflection. We thank God for those who volunteered and donated generously! <How we started> During the circuit breaker period, rough sleepers needed to get off the streets for their own safety. Many members of HFG and friends stepped forward to offer donations. <Dare to say “Yes”> Indeed, if you’re only looking for God in the spectacular, you’ll miss the supernatural every time. If God sent you to a mission, we need to trust that He will put all the necessary help in place for you. You only need to be still and trust! <Shops closed but God provides> Shops were closed during the circuit breaker period but the effort to source for the supplies were surprisingly smooth anyway. We even have suppliers approaching us to sell us a...

The Justice Conference Asia (2019)

Image
HFG-SG folks were at The Justice Conference Asia, held for the 1st time in SG, & org by Daniel Chua's church & others. Joy, Vi, Mercy, Lydia, Amy etc, were involved in diff ways - speaking, supporting, attending, organizing etc!! And professionals working with vulnerable children & Epworth Fostering Agency were there too!!! Sobering bible verses cited by keynote speaker Rev Eugene Cho, founder of One Day's Wages, remind us again of what is truly important to God... “I can’t stand your religious meetings. I’m fed up with your conferences and conventions. I want nothing to do with your religion projects, your pretentious slogans and goals. I’m sick of your fund-raising schemes, your public relations and image making. I’ve had all I can take of your noisy ego-music. When was the last time you sang to me ? Do you know what I want? I want justice—oceans of it. I want fairness—rivers of it. That’s what I want. That’s all I want." Amos 5:21-24 (MSG) Ken Wytsma unders...

Sharing at Ang Mo Kio Gospel Hall

Image
Happy Mother's Day to all mothers, esp foster parents! Today, Vivienne Ng shared at Ang Mo Kio Gospel Hall, with Choa-Tan Ai Cheng translating into Mandarin: 1. Why stable attachment with an adult is so important in the formative years of a child. 2. God’s desire to bring healing into our lives and to use us to heal those around us 3. Her own journey in answering God’s call to become a foster mother to kids who are not her own flesh and blood The text for today was Ps 68:5-6, "He sets the lonely in families". Vi started by contrasting God's awesome power from v1-2 to his incredible tenderness in v5-6. Why is God, the defender of the defenceless, so concerned about putting the lonely into families? It is for their care and protection. Sharing on the psychology of attachment, she stressed how crucial parent-child attachment is for all forms of child development - emotional, cognitive, social and even physical!! We have a relational God who desires a relationship with ...
