Letter from a Singaporean Foster Grandparent

Image
Vivienne Ng's FB Post on 19 Feb 2016: Yesterday, we posted a letter TO foster grandparents. Here is a letter FROM a Singaporean foster grandparent (my father), written back in Sept 2014. My father had written this email to his fellow Board Directors at the International Christian Mission (ICM) where he serves, in response to my heartfelt plea (made in a pool of tears) which I had posted on the FB page of a major church denomination. "Hi Brethren While lying in a hospital bed at three this morning, I was reading our elder daughter Vivienne's open letter to the Christian community in Singapore, about fostering of children by Christian families. As I read it, my heart also ached. And I felt led to forward her letter to you all in the hope and prayer that you might want to encourage your children as well as your church members to consider fostering some children. Most of us ICM directors are grandparents, and as such, it is 'natural' for us to dote on our grandchildren...

Sharing by Dr Krish Kandiah (Founder of Home For Good UK)

11 Nov 2014 - We are so blessed to have Dr Krish Kandiah, President of London School of Theology and Founder Director of Home For Good UK, with us this afternoon. His sharing on fostering and adoption greatly stirred and moved our hearts. Many children who are in need are waiting for us to respond. We shouldn't keep them waiting any longer. Let's awake to the Father's call to take care of the orphans. 8 Feb 2015 - Dr Krish shares how being Father of the fatherless is central to God's character and encourages foster carers to press on in what they do as their act of worship unto Him. 12 Oct 2015 - Home for Good Singapore is pleased to have been ministered to by Krish Kandiah from Home for Good UK. Home for Good Singapore is modelled after Home for Good UK, a charity helping to find adoptive and foster homes for children in the care system. The HFG SG foster parents had a great time fellowshipping over a wonderful dinner whipped up by Khye Suan from Methodist Childr...

Fostering Tea Session (Teh Hsin & Joyce)

Image
10 Dec 2014 -  Teh Hsin and Joyce's sharing. They are fostering an adorable little girl who has on-going medical needs after sustaining injuries. Teh Hsin's principle of the Good Samaritan - if there is a wounded person lying in front of u, do we still need to ask God if it is His calling that we be the ones to help this person ? Appreciate Joyce's honest sharing about a) thanking the Lord for each single day with their foster daughter, b) rejoicing at the miracle of each milestone achieved and finally c) learning to let go and trust God when the child is reintegrated eventually.

Fostering Tea Session (Robin & Linda) - Joy!

Image
23 August 2014 -  Our hearts were stirred and greatly inspired by Robin and Linda's testimony of God's love and the miracles that took place when they allowed His love to flow through their lives to touch their foster children. JOY is what their foster children bring to them and JOY is word used to describe their fostering journey.
